Encoder Cable for Handi Quilter & Janome Longarm Machines

A replacement 18-inch encoder cable for compatible Handi Quilter Moxie and Janome Quilt Maker longarm quilting machines.

Confirm Compatibility Before Ordering

This model-specific replacement cable fits select Handi Quilter and Janome longarm quilting machines. Verify your machine model and existing cable before purchase.

Restore the connection within your compatible longarm quilting system with this 18-inch Encoder Cable. Designed for use with select Handi Quilter and Janome longarm machines, this replacement cable connects to the encoder system used to help track machine movement during regulated quilting.

A damaged, loose, worn, or missing encoder cable may interrupt communication between the encoder and the quilting machine. Replacing the cable can help restore the proper connection when the existing cable has been identified as the cause of a stitch-regulation or movement-tracking issue.

The cable measures approximately 18 inches long and features right-angle connectors that help create a compact connection near the machine and frame components.

What Does an Encoder Cable Do?

The encoder system tracks movement of the quilting machine across the frame. This information is used by the machine’s stitch-regulation system to coordinate stitching with the speed and direction of movement. The encoder cable provides the electrical connection needed for that information to travel between compatible components.

Common Reasons for Replacement

  • The original cable is damaged or missing
  • The cable has become pinched or worn
  • A connector is loose or damaged
  • The machine is not receiving movement information from the encoder
  • A technician has identified the cable as the source of a stitch-regulation issue

Installation Guidance

  1. Turn off and unplug the quilting machine before replacing the cable.
  2. Note the routing and connection points of the existing cable.
  3. Disconnect the old cable carefully without pulling on the wires.
  4. Connect the replacement cable firmly at both ends.
  5. Route the cable away from wheels, tracks, belts, and other moving components.
  6. Test the machine’s stitch regulation before beginning a full quilting project.

Please note: This listing includes one 18-inch encoder cable only. The encoder assembly, quilting machine, frame, wheels, hardware, tools, and other electronic components are not included.

Longarm replacement parts are model-specific. Confirm your complete machine model and part number before ordering. Installation by a qualified service technician may be recommended when the cause of the problem has not been diagnosed.
